The National Pharmacy Association and Allergy UK provided free allergy screening to the public at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show from 7-12 July. Over 7,000 members of the public picked up information on community pharmacy allergy screening or asked for advice and 75 allergy screenings were carried out. Jules Payne, Deputy Chief Executive, Allergy UK said: “Allergy UK has done a lot of shows over the years and, without a doubt, this was the best show we have ever done.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain pledged to continue to build a professional leadership body fit for the 21st century after members voted to accept the changes to the Society’s Royal Charter in the Special Resolution Ballot. The ballot was the highest turnout achieved in recent years, with 10,698 votes cast in total, equating to a 22.3% voter turnout. Of those voting, 77.7% of members agreed to accept the Charter changes.

Adults between the ages of 34 and 56 are at a greater risk of dying from poisonings than from motor vehicle accidents, according to a new report from the CDC. The CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, released on Friday, states that poisoning death rates were higher than motor vehicle traffic death rates among adults aged 34 to 56 years between 2005 and 2006.

Concerns raised by the Pharmacists’ Division of the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia over employees being ‘left out’ of negotiations for the Fifth Community Pharmacy Agreement were unfounded, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia said today. President of the PSA, Warwick Plunkett, said the concerns were raised to stimulate a response from employee pharmacists on issues to be discussed in the CPA negotiations.

(LPI), a San Diego-based drug formulation developer, announced today that it has initiated two new collaboration programs for its Phospholipid Gel (PG) Depot drug delivery platform. The programs are designed to provide prolonged and peak-free pharmacokinetic profiles for 3 and 7 days following a subcutaneous injection for an antibiotic and a protein drug, respectively.
