A job fair to fill 400 positions at a new 156-bed hospital in Monroeville drew an estimated 2,700 people on Thursday, officials said.

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center held the job fair at the Monroeville Convention Center to fill positions at UPMC East, the hospital network’s newest facility, which is scheduled to open in July.

UPMC officials were surprised by the turnout.
