An expert group, set up by Health Minister Edwina Hart, to look at the issues around funding drugs on the NHS that are not approved by NICE will report on its findings and recommendations in the New Year. The group, led by Professor Philip Routledge, the chair of the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group, has been canvassing views of health professionals and patient representatives over the summer.

Gene Network Sciences, Inc. (GNS) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Biogen Idec under which GNS will use its proprietary REFS™ software platform to process clinical data provided by Biogen Idec to identify targets and biomarkers in inflammation. A forward simulation model generated directly from the Biogen Idec data will be licensed to Biogen Idec at the conclusion of this project. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
