New research strongly suggests that a mix of preventative agents, such as those found in concentrated black raspberries, may more effectively inhibit cancer development than single agents aimed at shutting down a particular gene. Researchers at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center examined the effect of freeze-dried black raspberries on genes altered by a chemical carcinogen in an animal model of esophageal cancer.

  • Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company announced the publication of results from the 682 patient, randomized, Phase III VISTA(1) trial in this week’s edition of the New England Journal of Medicine. The results showed a significant survival benefit and a 30 percent complete remission (CR) rate with VELCADE, melphalan and prednisone (VcMP) compared to 4 percent for melaphalan and prednisone (MP) alone in previously untreated multiple myeloma patients.
